Abstract

Compound Feed Market by Ingredient (Cereals, Cakes & Meals, By-products, and Supplements), Form (Mash, Pellets, and Crumbles), Livestock (Ruminants, Swine, Poultry, and Aquaculture), Source, and Region - Global Forecast to 2022

Description

"Compound feed market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 4.4%."
The compound feed market is estimated at USD 428.09 billion in 2017 and is projected to reach USD 530.92 billion by 2022, at a CAGR of 4.4% from 2017, in terms of value. The market is driven by growth in the consumption of animal-based products and growth of the organized livestock sector in developing countries. Impediments to product penetration in developing countries are one of the significant restraining factors for the compound feed market.
"Cereals segment to dominate the compound feed market through 2022."
In 2016, the cereals segment accounted for the largest share of the compound feed market, in terms of value. Cereals are the major source of energy and are used in a higher quantity to fulfill the energy requirements of the livestock. High energy diets majorly consist of cereals. The increasing demand for high-energy diets to increase the performance of the livestock has resulted in an increase in the demand for this segment.

"The plant-based segment is estimated to dominate, by source, the compound feed market in 2017."
Amino acids are considered as ideal chelators due to their ability to get easily absorbed in the body. The easy availability of plant-based ingredients is the driving factor for this segment. Also, the low cost and high awareness are the driving factors for this segment. Most players in the market provide plant-based products considering the demand from the end users.
"Europe is estimated to be the second-largest region in the compound feed market in 2017."
Europe accounted for the second-largest share in 2016, in terms of value. The demand for compound feed is expected to increase in the future with the increased feed production. Increased focus on quality and safe products has driven the use of compound feed in this region.
Meat and dairy products are important constituents of the food culture in the European region. Pork and poultry are widely reared and consumed in this region. Along with the increasing demand for animal products, some of the driving factors of the compound feed market in Europe include growth in the regional population, easy availability of the raw material, presence of major feed producers, and stringent regulations for high-quality products.

Global

The global economy is the economy of all the world's countries. The total world population now stands at over 7 billion and the global unemployment rate is 9% with approximately half the world's population paid less than $2 a day.

The global economy is picking up again after five years of uncertaintity and slow economic growth. The IMF is predicting global growth of 3.7% in 2014 rising to 3.9% in 2015. However, much uncertainity remains. Low inflation in developed economies means that these economies take longer to deal with debt burdens and are at increases risk of deflation.

The second half of 2013 saw growth in the US and European economies (particularly UK, Germany and France).

Growth in the US has been helped by cheaper energy from fracking , renewables and more oil and gas exploration. This cheaper energy is bring manufacturing jobs back to the US and helping to boost domestic demand. Recent winter weather conditions have hampered growth in the construction sector and have slowed demand in the construction equipment sector which saw exports drop by 25% in 2013. Growth should pick up in this sector with continued federal investment in infrastructure, new residential house builds and refurbishment and the energy boom.

In Europe growth is expected to be uneven with growth being slow in stressed economies such as Portugal and Greece but confidence picking up in UK, Ireland and even Spain showing some improvement.

Developing economies such as China and India will continue to have strong growth in 2014 and 2015. China has benefitted from increased investment with the Chinese govenment now focused on quality growth of 7.5% in 2014. India which is less reliant on exports expects growth of 5.4% in 2014 and 6.4% in 2015.

Much uncertainity still remains in the global economy with greater optimism needed to stabilise growth.

Agribusiness/ Agriculture

Agribusiness includes all businesses involved in the agricultural industry. It includes everything from small scale farming to large scale agricultural operations. The OECD expects global growth in agriculture to average at 1.5% annually over the next decade.

The outlook for the global agricultural industry is bright due to strong demand and high prices. However the industry faces many challenges such as food security, technological change and a difficult regulatory environment. Food security is being challenged by an increasing world population, extreme weather conditions and flucuating supply. The pace of technological change in agriculture is at it's most dramatic in the industry. Competition in the sector really depends on the adoption of new technologies.

The introduction of genetically modified organisms (GMO's) has brought about a profound increase in the supply of sustainable and nutricious food for our growing world population. Consumer perception of GMO's is changing but communication is key in this field where there is still doubt and considerable demand for information.

The regulatory environment in agriculture is challenging with chemicals and pesticides in this industry needing approval on a regional and crop basis. There are considerable costs associated with these restrictions. Such regulations can act as potential barriers to trade between different markets.

Research and Experts supplies global and regional reports on the agricultural industry keeping you up-to-date with key players, new products and emerging markets.

Food, Drink and Tobacco

The Food, Drink and Tobacco industry is kept current and ready to adapt to market trends with our range of industry intelligence reports.

Changes in food and drink consumption have been mostly driven by increased urbanisation and growing middle classes globally. The demand for higher quality food stuffs is rising with increased demand for high protein foods such as meat and dairy.

The soft drinks sector has also benefitted from the globalisation of higher value foods. This has been a rapidly growing sector with increased sales in Asia and Eastern Europe. For further information see our Plimsoll reports on this subject.

The Tobacco industry has been suffering since the 1990's as a result of government intervention in many countries to control the levels of addiction amongst citizens. However, the tobacco industry has remained one of the most profitable industries in the world with companies adept at moving into new markets and adapting to new technology. The electronic cigarette is most disputive product in this sector.  Plimsoll have published an extensive report on TOBACCO MANUFACTURERS (Global) market and delivers a comprehensive individual analysis on the top 250 companies, including ALTADIS CANARIAS SA., BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO ESPANA SA and BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO NEDERLAND B.V..

Reseach and Experts aim to provide you with the most comprehensive collection of market research reports on the food, drink and tobacco industries globally.
